Band of The Week - Phoenix

How do you guys decide who your favorite band of the moment is? For me, it's when I check the amount of times I played a band and I am basically shell shocked. So, that is how I picked my first band of the week. You don't need to know how many times I have played them in the past week or so, but lets just say, it was played almost too much. When I first mentioned this band to my friends, their reaction was always the same, "who?". I've gotten really used to this because I listen to a lot of underground, new bands. Phoenix however is different then many others. Starting out in Paris, France, this band has recently become popular in the USA. If you guys have listened to the commercials for the new movie Somewhere or have seen the 2010 Cadillac commercials, then you have heard their music. They are classified as "alternative" however they have a very indie feel. To really describe their music, think of it like this. If MGMT, Vampire Weekend and Sliimy had a baby, it would sound a lot like Phoenix. Personally, my favorite songs off their newest album Wolfgang Amadeus Phoenix would have to be "Lisztomania", "1901" and "Girlfriend". These guys are DEFINITELY worth checking out.
