Band of The Week - Phoenix

How do you guys decide who your favorite band of the moment is? For me, it's when I check the amount of times I played a band and I am basically shell shocked. So, that is how I picked my first band of the week. You don't need to know how many times I have played them in the past week or so, but lets just say, it was played almost too much. When I first mentioned this band to my friends, their reaction was always the same, "who?". I've gotten really used to this because I listen to a lot of underground, new bands. Phoenix however is different then many others. Starting out in Paris, France, this band has recently become popular in the USA. If you guys have listened to the commercials for the new movie Somewhere or have seen the 2010 Cadillac commercials, then you have heard their music. They are classified as "alternative" however they have a very indie feel. To really describe their music, think of it like this. If MGMT, Vampire Weekend and Sliimy had a baby, it would sound a lot like Phoenix. Personally, my favorite songs off their newest album Wolfgang Amadeus Phoenix would have to be "Lisztomania", "1901" and "Girlfriend". These guys are DEFINITELY worth checking out. Welcome To My Life

Hey everyone... or  no one. This is going to be my first blog ever, so excuse me while I get used to it. "Just Listen." will be all music all the time. From new found bands to concert reviews, I'll talk about it all. What kind of music do you like? I will try to put in a little something for everyone. Except opera lovers. I'm sorry but please leave now if you only listen to opera. I will never be able to understand your strange love for it. Maybe I should introduce myself. My name is Gabriella, and that is all you need to know. I do not want to bore you with my life story (though I cannot promise I won't accidentally leak it once in a while), but this is dedicated to my one and only love, music. I eat, breathe and bleed music. The sad part is, I am not kidding. It's all I think about, 24/7. I also promise to keep this somewhat humorous, well as humorous as I can be. I know I hate reading blogs that are boring and seem like they have a stick up their "you know what". I am going to keep this lively and fresh and oh so entertaining. I would love to also do some interviews, album reviews and more. Please comment and tell me what you would like to see me write about, because in the end this is all for YOU. To turn the listeners into the lovers, to turn the lovers into the obsessed.
